Management consultants (like me) routinely help to set up or reorganize organizations in order to help them to reach their full potential.  However, with a little more effort, I give them an ongoing capability to assess and improve themselves. Management consultants, who not only audit processes, but train organizations to audit themselves, can be heroes to their clients, as well as permanent “value-adds”.  Audits provide valuable, impartial, feedback, and can save lots of time and money.  Structured, proven, management programs such as ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 27000, and ISO 28000 underscore the value of effective internal auditing of organization processes toward a goal of continuous improvement. I can help you to identify and correct your own shortcomings, without relying on a steady stream of outsiders.  I believe that developing a viable and self-sustaining internal auditing and risk management capability within a client organization is as important to the continued success of that organization as the consulting engagement itself. Maybe more so.

I can help you to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in your organization. I can also help to both implement and certify your organization to ISO 9000, ISO 14000, 27000, and ISO 28000.

Auditing to “approved standards”

“Quality,” in its most simplistic definition, is conformance with standards.  Approved process standards are vital to the continuous improvement and competitiveness of an organization.  They form the criteria with which meaningful self-assessment can be made.  The ever-changing global marketplace has placed great emphasis on the importance of quality in all goods and services.

How I can help you set up an Internal Auditing process in your organization

Developing and implementing an internal audit program will require the organization to take (among others) the following initial actions:
1.Designate and train internal auditors.  How many auditors required depends on organization size and complexity.
2.Identify the audit-able processes, and develop written guidance and checklists covering them.
3.Create an annual audit schedule with the projected dates for all processes to be audited.  Schedule all organization processes for audit at least once during the 12-month period.
4.Develop the internal audit procedure.  This will help to preclude or minimize disruption.  Include opening and closing meetings in the agenda.  ISO standards contain excellent guidance for the consultant to use to structure internal audits.

All my books have comprehensive audit checklists, to help YOU become an experienced, effective internal auditor almost immediately.  See for yourself.
